“It allows us to develop our promotional activities via various e-commerce platforms which have become increasingly important since the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Travel agents, attractions and hotels can now take advantage of the campaign to digitize their businesses and attract new potential customers,” he said.

Yeoh said the campaign will complement the state’s aspiration to become a “smart tourist destination” under Penang’s tourism master plan.

“As part of this momentum, we are focusing on the adoption of smart technologies in tourism.

“This includes standardizing e-wallets and encouraging the digitization of local tourism products and businesses.
