Skiers are flocking to the slopes in large numbers as France confirmed it would welcome British tourists again.
In the hours following the announcement by the Parisian government, the low-cost airline easyJet reported a 600% increase in UK bookings to popular French ski destinations for the remainder of the winter season.
Last-minute bookings to Switzerland also spiked immediately after the news broke with a 386% rise in flight bookings.
As snow continues to cover peaks across Europe, winter sports enthusiasts now have even more opportunities to hit the slopes. It is not surprising that more and more winter sports enthusiasts are taking advantage of the conditions – until the end of the season in March 2022 – and are booking a ski getaway.
Thousands of easyJet places to France and Switzerland as well as to other destinations serving the best ski resorts in Europe are still available for booking for this winter, including the February mid-term.
The airline has also extended its Big Orange Sale, with up to 25% off select seats and low fares still available to book through January 18, starting at just £14.99. It is operating 37 routes this winter from the UK to 10 destinations across Europe which serve the main ski resorts on the continent.
Ali Gayward, easyJet ‘s country manager UK, said: “With France once again welcoming British tourists, skiing is well and truly back. This is good news for UK consumers, especially those looking to book a last minute family holiday or planning to hit the slopes, with low fares still available on thousands of flights to France. this winter, including halfway through.
“We know there is pent-up demand and many are desperate to get by this year, which we continue to see every time restrictions are lifted. With flights already scheduled to increase in the coming weeks, we will continue to review our schedule to meet demand and look forward to taking our customers for a long-awaited break this winter.
