From London and Glasgow to DC and LA, here are the latest new air routes announced by low-cost airlines.
Toronto to Glasgow with WestJet
Canadian travelers will be delighted with this inaugural route launched last week with WestJetoffer an affordable, direct flight option to Scotland just in time for summer.
Flights are currently scheduled 4 times a week, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flight leaves Toronto at 9.40pm local time and is expected to arrive in Glasgow at 9.10am the following morning.
“The launch of service between Toronto and Glasgow marks another important step in the recovery as we rebuild our network and strengthen transatlantic connectivity between our two countries,” said John Weatherill, chief operating officer at WestJet, at the launch. of this new flight.
One-way flights for this itinerary currently cost less than $200 on the Skyscanner flight search engine.
New York to London with Norse Airways
Want to plan a cheap trip to London for the end of summer? The low-cost company Norse Atlantic has just made the trip between New York and London more accessible for budget travelers.
Starting August 12, Norse will launch its first transatlantic route between New York’s JFK Airport and London’s Gatwick International Airport. Flights will operate daily, departing New York at 5:55 p.m. and arriving across the pond in London at 6:20 a.m. the next morning.

4 new flight routes launched by low-cost airline Avelo
Budget airlines across the United States have stepped up their flight routes this year, and Avelo Airlines has jumped into the mix. Just last week, three new low-cost flight routes have been announced from Connecticut’s Tweed New Haven Airport in Washington DC, Chicago and Raleigh. On top of that, a new direct route has been launched from Boise to Hollywood Burbank on the low-cost airline.
“Avelo’s momentum at Tweed (airport) continues to build as we fly today to three more popular destinations. With today’s addition of Chicago, Raleigh-Durham and Washington, DC, Avelo now offers more choice, affordability and ease of travel to the state than any other airline,” Avelo CEO Andrew Levy said when launching the new flight routes this week. Here’s a breakdown of the new routes and current flight prices.
Connecticut to Washington, D.C.
Departing from Tweed, flights will land at Thurgood Marshall International Airport in Baltimore/Washington. According to the airline’s website, flights will be operated between 3 and 4 times a week from Connecticut to the US capital.
One-way fares for this route currently start at $59.
Connecticut to Chicago
Landing at Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW), this new direct flight route will connect the East Coast to the Midwest, giving travelers an economical option for exploring the second city this summer. Flights are currently scheduled four times a week on Avelo.

Cheap flights now available to Raleigh, NC on Avelo Airlines
Explore the city of Raleigh this summer on a budget. Flights between Connecticut and the charming capital of North Carolina are currently scheduled five times a week on Avelo.

Cheap Flights to Hollywood Burbank Airport
The City of Angels is even more accessible for Boiseans with the launch of Avelo’s flight route last week between Boise Airport and Hollywood Burbank Airport. Hollywood Burbank is the airline’s West Coast base of operations, so look for more cheap flights from a city near you if you live in one of the West Coast states.
One-way fares are currently as low as $69 on the airline’s website.
