Tourism Malaysia is looking to ramp up its – well, its tourism – now that Malaysia’s borders are open.
In an effort to boost our tourism industry, Tourism Malaysia has partnered with Visa to promote Malaysia as an excellent travel destination for international tourists.
Benefits
Visa will launch the Visa Preferred Merchant (VPM) program, which will give Visa cardholders access to exclusive offers for accommodations, airfare, dining, shopping and medical wellness.
Basically, anyone with a Visa card will be eligible for these discounts and special prices to use in Malaysia or even abroad!

In fact, at launch, Visa shared two promo codes that can be used for up to 30% off airfare and hotel booking rates: VISAHOTEL30 and VISAFLIGHT30.
Visa is delighted to extend its partnership with Tourism Malaysia and launch a specially curated “Home Away from Home” campaign. With the reopening of borders, we look forward to being a driving force in driving tourism growth and promoting Malaysia as a post-pandemic tourist destination.

Malaysia welcomes international tourists again
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Sri Nancy Shukri said the reopening of borders signals opportunities for economic recovery and boosts tourism growth again.
She notes that the country is expecting and preparing for a conservative figure of 2 million international tourists in the coming months. This figure is expected to increase as other countries also begin to reopen their borders.

Overseas Tourism Malaysia offices are already organizing roadshows and promotions in foreign countries like the Middle East, India and Vietnam to promote Malaysia as an attractive tourist destination to develop tourism.
Before the pandemic, Malaysia hosted 26.1 million tourist arrivals with total expenditure of RM86.1 billion in 2019. The top three expenditures were shopping, accommodation, and food and beverages, accounting for 61 billion RM in tourism receipts for the year 2019. .
