Chandigarh Industrial & Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) and IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) have partnered by signing a Memorandum of Understanding to customize travel packages and work together to develop and expand tourism. vertical in and around Chandigarh.
CITCO said it will focus on “chalking up our tourist sites while IRCTC will attract international and domestic tourists by introducing travel packages”.
“The two sides will jointly explore the areas of cooperation and draw up a detailed plan for the same. Areas of cooperation would include the development of joint rail tourism products with a transport segment provided by IRCTC and support for land packages, including accommodation, meals and transport, etc., to be provided by CITCO ” , he was clarified.
CITCO Managing Director Jasvinder Kaur Sidhu said: “Using the strength and infrastructure of both sides for a wider purpose of promoting a tourist destination is one of the main reasons for this rapprochement. In addition to this, we will share the web portal where the services of both parties could be accessed and promoted. “
IRCTC President and CEO Rajni Hasija said: “We will also market the products / services of other parties to our own customers, thus improving the range of services to tourists and travelers. Organizing joint events and conferences are also on our agenda. We will use the combined strength of the railways and CITCO to promote and market our product to travelers.
CITCO will make complete packages for IRCTC passengers. All three properties will be listed on IRCTC portals (tourism, rail and air portals) for package promotion. These visits can be highlighted on the IRCTC website and online portal.
Additional features of the packages to entice travelers are HOHO City Sightseeing Tour by Double Decker Hop on Hop off Sightseeing Bus, Sukhna Lake Cruise Package.
CITCO and IRCTC will also organize joint events in the future.
