The most recent phase of the “Vax for victoryWas announced Monday by California Governor Gavin Newsom. “From the California coastline to our theme parks to our breathtaking national forests, our state’s diverse terrain and unique communities make us the envy of the world when it comes to tourism,” Newsom said.

Since the state launched the “Vax for the Win” incentive program, the state has seen a 13.8% week-over-week increase in the number of doses administered. The incentive program is the largest in the country and has currently awarded $ 50,000 to 30 winners, with a grand prize of $ 15 million shared among ten partially vaccinated Californians.

The state was once one of the hardest hit during the pandemic, but it is now giving up the mask mandate (with the exception of public transport, hospitals and schools) and social distancing for those vaccinated, as well as at the end of capacity limits for companies. Large public events of 5,000 people or more will always be organized with more caution, but small events will not be regulated, according to CNN.

Like many states that depend on tourism, California’s industry lost over a million jobs during the pandemic; The vaccine incentive is crucial for the reopening of the state as a tourist destination.
