Air New Zealand is bringing back its “Mystery Break” travel packages where travelers pay a package deal to book a vacation with the airline without knowing the destination until two days before their departure.
The airline offers three levels of packages – The Great, Deluxe or Luxury break. Customers can choose a date and designate a location they would prefer not to go.
All packages include flights to one of the airline’s 20 national destinations, accommodation in an Accor hotel with breakfast included, and airport transfers or a rental car from Avis.
Travelers are given an itinerary that reveals their destination approximately two days before departure.
A new luxury package in addition to the previously available Great and Deluxe packages has also been introduced which includes flights, 5-star accommodation with breakfast and dinner included, and a luxury rental car.
Jeremy O’Brien, general manager of branding and marketing for the airline, said that since the closure of international borders by Covid-19, the airline has been looking “for even more ways” to help its customers explore the New Zealand.
“We’re really excited to have refreshed Mystery Breaks – it’s part of our contribution to boosting local tourism. Previously these were mainly purchased by corporate customers, but we have developed the packages to appeal to leisure travelers.
“It saves the admin having to book a vacation – you don’t have to research and plan all of the separate items – all you have to do is get on the plane. They’re also a great gift option because you don’t need a name or date to purchase a voucher – the recipient can decide at a later date.
Air New Zealand’s Mystery Breaks packages start from NZ $ 599 per person and are available to book now through the Air New Zealand website.
